The Wahoos welcome all divers from four to 18 on June 1 of the season. Divers must be able to swim the length of the dive well unassisted. Many of our divers participate in the swim team and/or tennis at WCRA and the schedules are designed to all participants to do all without conflict. Also, please note that we welcome divers to join the team if they are members at an NVSL pool that doesn’t have a team of its own, so feel free to welcome friends in that category.
Like swim, the team operates Monday through Friday from Memorial Day to the end of July. Practices are after school until the end of the FCPS year, at which point we move to the mornings (but not crazy early like swim – we are civilized at the deep end of the pool). Official meets (also called A meets) are on Tuesday afternoons at 6, starting in mid-June Developmental meets (B meets) are on Thursday afternoons through the same period.
There are a couple of league-wide meets, to include a 3m dive competition, a synchronized dive meet, and the divisional and All Star competitions. See the dive team website for more specifics.
We encourage parents to be involved, whether that means watching practices, helping with food at meets, or learning how to help officiate the meets. It’s easy to do, can mostly be done without training, and helps you learn a little more about what the kids are doing.
More information, including the full calendar for the 2023 season, is available at our dive team website. Information about the NVSL Dive league is available at https://dive.mynvsl.com.
And you can always contact the team at email@example.com.
